Hamiltonian America.Sons of liberty.Chapter 9.page 17.

At a time of immanent peril, when the city was besieged with cannonballs the action boosted patriots' confidence. Then the British send the Phoenix a fortyfour gun battle ships with Rose a twenty eight gun frigate on July 12 to threaten residents with blazing guns in brutal saddles and edged past southern tips of Manhattan. Two ships pounded new York rooftops with defeaning cannons , terrifying shelling and brutal dins, sailing up Hudson unscathed and not barred from the Manhattan shore. Hamilton commanded in patriotic arsenal four biggest cannons and launched expedition on the two ships which backfired when the exploding burst killed six of his men and several others heavily wounded.Inadequate expertise and lack of competency in addition to binging and whoring was blamed for the casualties. They were buried in the Bowling Green."
"Unfortunately never see the beginning of the nationhood "
"Such is life.Lieutenant Isaac Bangs reported men and troops took to binging and drinking after abandonment of their battery to the so called holy ground.Casualties he lamented were caused "by the carelessness of our own artillery men six men were killed with our cannon and several others badly wounded .It is said that several of the company out of which they were killed were drunk and neglected to sponge worm and stop the vent and the cartridges took fire while they were ramming them down."
"So he was absolved of any blame to face the reprimand "
"Clearly the fatal mishap was not his fault.Nevertheless he learnt a heck pathetically regreted war was a filthy business.April 17, Washington urged natives to evacuate immediately in the perilous face of unbridled danger and impending chaos and only five thousand of pre war population remained in new York.Hamilton doubted capacity of continental army after crossing the east river and scouted the terrain to contain the mayhem as Washington dispersed tattered forces across Manhattan and Brooklyn. He doubted their ability to defend Brooklyn heights against advanced onslaught of the British cannons."
"Hamilton and some colleagues at this period wrote a letter to Washington and he didn't reply on the same issue. Why didn't he reply?"
"You re right.Hercules Mulligan reported he had a dinner with Hamilton including one Reverend at his home . Reverend John,..."
"Yeah Reverend John Mason "
"Both agreed on the need for proper evacuation tactical retreats of continental army from Brooklyn heights to avoid their massacre. Then after it was decided they also had issues with army safety in Long Island and decided to take the same step.So they had to write letter to Washington for support and advised on the best approach. It was forwarded by mulligan to Washington's aides.Apparently most of his predictions were accurate. There was massive invasion of brutal forces by the British across Narrows down to Brooklyn from Staten island on August 22.They numbered more than twenty thousand twice outnumbered able bodied Americans."
"Within few days?"
"Yeah "
"what a desperation!"
"Within few days the hesian mercenaries and British redcoats  bombarded and blocked Long Island.Shortly after a rebound from deceptive lull, they advanced north waded Dutch and English farm villages from marsh to meadows levelled homes, pillaged farm fields and and slaughtered green horn soldiers.Hellbent with intents to breach patriotic fortification constructed at Brooklyn heights. The late reinforcement by Washington couldn't save the day and the battle of Brooklyn was marred with terrifying shellings and totally outgunned the Patriots captured or massacred 1,200 American soldiers paled into obscurity to the British losses. The virginian was heavily trapped in the middle of nowhere and British had every inch to smash the revolt in their favor and Americans at this point were clueless in battlefield ."
"Did Alexander fought in the battle of Brooklyn? There was no evidence?"
"I think May be"
"AI said no he didn't fight."
"AI sometimes maybe wrong but depending on the keyword "
"Nevertheless he fought in broader revolutionary wars like the battles in white plains, Trenton, Princeton but not Brooklyn.
