Mahatma Ghandi,the founder of All India spinners association,All India village industrial association and the father of appropriate technology in 1935 campaigned vigorously for grassroot technology and village based technology, similar to later emergence.In the 1962 report to the Indian planning commission,Dr Ernst Friedrich Frits Schumacher turned subsequently to the use of the term "appropriate technology"first coined by Ghandhi and became the theorist.As the theorist, however,he called for the patronage of intermediate industrial technology in big Vogue,to harness Indian labour surplus."Small Is Beautiful:A study of Economics As if people mattered",is an influential work published by Schumacher, described the concept of appropriate technology.Between 1966 to 1975 the population of appropriate technology organizations skyrocketed and also applied to problems of industrialised societies.This myriad of over 680 related organizations,specifically deals with environmental issues, including climate, energy were identified by OECD in 1987
.Then three years later,a thousand related organizations sprouted.Besides transnational agencies and governmental departments playing a major role in the appropriate technology movement,as major Innovators advancing the movement while facing the challenges of confronting established cabals,as basic norms,the astounding success of this movement could not have been possible without the influence of their gigantism and the critical dimension of technologival choice,authored by the establishments.World health organization (WHO) created the program for appropriate technology in 1977 whereas a year before that interamerican development bank created a committee for the movement.It was also popularly adopted in advanced countries.
