The Rational Degree Of Human Expectations.

I went through my library lately a repertoire of close to fifty years of newspapers archives and books stashed in layers of Ghana must go and shelves at a frightening proportion to any outside visitors.I just decided recently to supplement it with elaborate uses of internet sources and sometimes I marveled some information about our country or Africa was certainly missing on the net or generally not online.
However in the recent search I discovered an old article of Revend Sam Adeyemi who relocated abroad I think during endsars revolt.A column in the defunct Success Digest of Thursday September 22,2011 page 3.Thanks to Ojeagbeasu the silent mover of information marketing revolution and sport reporting revolution in Nigeria and I was surprised at his death no national burial was done.
Moreover in the piece by Sam Adeyemi pioneer at Day star academy Keys To Financial Success (2) A Window Of Opportunities.
He talks about expectations and enjoins  dreamers to dream big and be greater dresmers. He says"We need to increase our expectations to receive into our lives that which will move our lives forward. We must not shortchange ourselves with small expectations "
The he tells a story of a man who went down to the river one day to catch a fish": Whenever the hook jerked in his hand he pulled out a fish. Then he did something quite puzzling .He measured the fish with stick .If the fish was same size with the stick or shorter he dropped the fish in a basket.
But if the fish was longer than the stick he threw it back into the river .His friend who was all the while standing by asked with a puzzling look on his face."There must be a deep philosophy to your actions explain it to me "Then the young man explained that he had a frying pan at home.He measured the diameter of the frying pan with the stick.Any fish that was longer than the stick was too long so he threw it back into the river"
Then Adeyemi concluded that "the story may sound ridiculous. But in the same vein we sometimes reject the ideas and opportunities that seem too large for our thinking."That we should not allow the degree of our challenges to limit the depth of our success.
Honestly speaking the first iniquity of successful folks to a larger degree is the mentality of small fish and that is to say most dreamers and successful folks often endorse petty dreams.I observed at one point in my conversation with a friend that the same energy you require to make one thousand naira is the same energy you require to make a million,a billion etcetera. Most folks hardly believe that the same energy been wasted by say a vulcaniser or a weather or a bus conductor or hairdresser or Taylor or any of petty micro entrepreneur is the same energy a billionaire or capitalist is using to make mega fortune and that the poor like Adeyemi noted in the same essay are consuming more than they earn .Period.I don't think they re different.
The difference between the poor and the rich is the magnitude of the vision that makes a difference in the long run also in the magnitude of their expectations. It is fitting that we increase our expectations beyond our extant capacity.
