Thaumaturge's Periplus.Sonnet XVI

The Ram of Ruby

Upon the cliffs of cinnabar he stands,To meet the Aries on his jagged height; The beast possesses hooves of burning brands,That spark the tinder of the dawning light. Its horns are spiraled with the math of war,A geometry of conquest and of strife; It thunders at the dawn’s obsidian door,To wake the dormant, fierce intent of life. The thaumaturge must seize the crimson mane,And ride the impulse of the nascent fire;To feel the pulsing of the solar vein,And harness the momentum of desire. The cardinal heat begins to sear his soul,The first ignition of the cosmic whole.
