Hamiltonian America.Sons of liberty.Chapter 9.page 13.

"He had a lasting impression of Hamilton too"
"Yea,he had a profound impact on him too especially in his own case a different game entirely "
"How do you mean?"
"He was able to appreciate more because most of what he learned were gleaned from books and able to appreciate instantly his military exploits unlike his own military experience restricted to only two years of militia campaign
Little wonder artillery chief Henry Knox spoke of his own experience with Greene, when he says "With his intuitive knowledge"..".he to us the rawest and most untutored human being I ever met with but in less than twelve months he was equal in military knowledge to any general in the army".
"You re right No wonder Nathaniel Greene was valued by George Washington above all of his generals"
"Exactly it was Greene who first recommended Hamilton and his merits to Washington and like Lord Stirling might have rejected Greene's aide too as military aide"
"Imagine that!"
"The truth in everything you do you must know your worth and then others would learn by force to appreciate you. Most folks highly intelligent species barely do and wasted arbitrarily not persuasively the god given life time talent. They Don't listen to inner minds and it takes grace and inner strength to do that."
"You said Boston later fell"
Yea Boston fell in March to the continental army a great shock to the British and a relief to patriotic spirits and next battle front New York braced for imminent invasion.Dont forget Hamilton was informing St.Croix readers and it was well captured when he says,"this city is at present evacuated by above one half of its inhabitants under the influence of a general panic". During the same period  Lord Stirling 's men about four thousand of them sealed off the major streets and a network of batteries and earthworks strung across Manhattan to the east river from the Hudson. On the high ground of Bayard's Hill close to current day intersection of Canal and mulberry street , Hamilton company constructed a small fort composed of twelve cannon.
Then Washington came down the following month to supervise military operations from new England in the city."
"Oh he had headquarters there right?"
"Exactly They called it Richmond hill a Hudson river mansion later the home of the executioner Aaron Burr. You know Burr had a failed military expedition "
"Just a patriot assault on Quebec"
"No he was probably weak military strategist and infact too early to do that. What was his early training and probably should he had trained under Hamilton like Greene would probably had valued him more.He even visited Washington to accept offer to serve under him"
"Which time was that? Same April?"
"No on June just mere passion . Imagine end of him who taught the virginian had confered on him strictly in matters of strategy, then he was completely embarrassed "
"Like seriously what?"
"Infact he related to menial duties who doesn't know the implications of failed military expedition. His grandiose expectations vanished. Then he quit.Imagine, still wasn't content yet wrote letters to Washington less qualified men were promoted ahead of him .First paranoid in American.history I ever knew."
"A paranoic?"
"You name it."
"Wait a minute why did he work for general Israel Putnam and not bootlegger for George Washington?"
"He had a penchant for intrigues not much worthy instinct and a prior stint for amplified difference.A non-misogynist drew ire of Washington though had a cool wartime relation with Washington but not enough to win general's muse unlike Hamilton who was a steadfast general at this period. He ordered the arrest of two corporals and sergeant a private accused of mutiny appeased in a court martial with passive punishment.
