Beside the mercury of a stagnant pool,He contemplates his newly weathered face;A visage fashioned by a different rule,Devoid of shimmering, celestial grace.The ripples mock the spheres he once had spun,Distorting lines of perfect symmetry;But in the depths, away from searing sun,He glimpses truth in dark fluidity.For water holds the memory of the deep,The primordial, unformed, oceanic roar;Where ancient, leviathan spirits sleep,And tides rewrite the logic of the shore.He drinks the cold, transformative despair,And
