The Primordial Resonance Of Ooduduwa Meridian (PROME). Sonnets 01,02.

Upon the Guinean littoral, a realm of sanguine hue,
Where Oshun’s amber currents weave through verdant labyrinth,
The Oduduwa lineage, in primordial retinue,
Erected Ilé-Ifè, the world’s adamantine plinth.
There, terracotta visages, in naturalistic mold,
Defy the corrosive breath of revolving centuries,
While Afin bastions, draped in monarchic gold,
Preserve the clandestine rites of ancestral memories.
The Yoruba diaspora, a geopolitical bloom,
Dispersed its polytheistic seeds across the oceanic deep,
In Santería’s chants and Candomblé’s rhythmic loom,
Where Orisha spirits their perpetual vigil keep.
O, meridian of culture, whose resplendent glow,
Directs the tributary tides of continental flow.
Within the sonorous pulse of the talking drum’s refrain,
A linguistic architecture, tonal and sublime,
Transmits the parabolic lore of shimmering grain,
And proverbial wisdom, unfettered by mortal time.
From Oyo’s cavalry-swept plains to Egba’s rocky height,
The Indigenous genius for urban complexity,
Fashioned a mercantile nexus of unparalleled might,
Bound by the sacrosanct cords of consanguinity.
No hegemonic shadow can obliterate the lustre,
Of Ibeji carvings or Adire’s indigo sheen,
Where metaphysical forces and mortal masses muster,
To honor the sovereign grace of a primogeniture queen.
A concordance of spirits, in rhapsodic decree,
Affirms this luminescent pulse of African legacy.
