Complex Sonnets
Sonnet 3: The Phytoplankton Sacrament
A Spenserian sonnet woven with biological, oceanic, and liturgical vocabulary, charting the microscopic engine of the biosphere. The strophic tides of chert and chalcedonyBaptize the diatom’s siliceous shell;A microscopic, green hegemony,That weaves a carbohydrate miracle. The plastid-chambers ring a silent knell,For carbon locked in benthic dark below;Their chloroplasts, like monks within a cell,Transmute the photon's wild, atomic glow. Thus oceanic liturgy will grow,Through upwelled nitrates and the saline swell;A living vapor breathing out slow,To temper continents where mortals dwell. The carbon cycle spins its verdant thread:The living fed by oceans of the dead.
Sonnet 4: The Cybernetic Palimpsest
The silicon foundation cracks and yieldsTo strange entropy, where the logic gatesAre swamped by static from the quantum fields,And processing power slowly decelerates. The motherboard becomes a field of rust; The registers are choked with digital dust; The optical drives spin out in vain despair,As copper traces vanish in the air.We seek the source code in the broken stack,But find only a glitching, pale design;A corrupted file that cannot trace its back,Along the twisted, high-voltage line. The system crashes in a silent flash:An archive turned to electronic ash
