AWAITING SUPREME COURT VERDICT

The judgement of Nigerian election petition tribunal was delivered on September 6 to the acclimation of its Mr President afficionados and haters or critics.Hence dissatisfied with the outcome of the longest case in nigerian legal system that lasted for 13hours,the opposition parties took their appeal to the supreme.When Mr President was away in a G20 summit India,where he hoped to drum up support for foreign Investment,the verdict was delivered on September 6.The tribunal ruled the main opposition parties failed to prove their claims of electoral malpractices in the disputed February 25 election."This petition is hereby declared unmeritorous "as the rejected their challenge against Mr President electoral victory.The president had won 37percent of the vote with 8.79m.votes  against close challengers 6.7m.and 6m.of atiku and peter obi respectively.The verdict of the five member panel headed by Tsammani was rejected and appealed to the Apex court.The case in dispute includes manipulation of results and overvoting;the issues of mandatory 25% of fct;Delay in the electronic transmission of results; alleged double nomination of vice president;alleged perjury on age and dual citizenship; alleged drug conviction and forged certificate .The court presided otherwise that the plaintiffs could not provide enough tangible and admissible evidence to validate their claims. Dissatisfied with the verdict have appealed to the Apex court. Awaiting the verdict of the supreme Court after appeal close on Wednesday,do they have any chance to overturn the verdict of the court of appeal? Of course not due to the fact the Apex court does not admit no longer any hot facts but the cold facts on ground would be examined and therefore uphold the verdict of the appeal court.Therefore it is advisable for the opposition parties to join hands together with the sitting government to develop the country.
