IGOR SERGEYEV:THE BEST NOBEL PEACE PRIZE THE WORLD NEVER HAD.

Igor Sergeyev died in 2006 at the age of 68 years on November 10, a man of many parts the best Nobel Peace prize winner the world never had and barely no one would talk about it.
Let me tell you something about Sergeyev Russian first Marshall, the only one to have held that position and the minister of defense in charge of the Soviet army. When Russia started its reckless  campaign  against  chechen  fundamentalists in September 1999 he was also in charge as well as the operation in Barents sea in August 2000 when submarine Kursk including routine staff was  lost for which such accidents followed by badly planned forays of rescue attempt, few months after the commander in chief of Russia's Strategic Forces was sacked. With the crash of Soviet Union ,in 1991 he had the ultimate task of ensuring safe handling of Soviet arsenal and missiles  not fallen in wrong hands. This involved the long range missiles that could strike america
and Western Europe  excluding the tactical nukes that were already evacuated from the caucus and a host of conflict prone zones. He masterminded the evacuation of the long range missiles from Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Belarus and returned them safely back to Russia. That was his greatest achievement: handling disintergation of old  Soviet deadliest  nuclear arsenal.Detached their warheads, removed their heavily toxic fuel and disposed them from their combat ready nature. Those kind of operation  was complicated and often source of constant anxiety that he had to ensure the american counterparts General Butler Lee and admiralty Henry Chilles of nino constant threats and unauthorized launch until they were safely disposed. He assured that America was not about to be dispossed of environmental security and hit by stray nuclear missiles. Like Chechenya he did not abbet nuclear rivalry with the west nor did not ever actively supported attempt couple against Mikhail Gorbachev in 1991.Economist magazine of the period labeled him ".....a responsible professional"who could have fought against the disintergation of old Soviet.
