MY HUMBLE BEGINNING

Take a look at your life at one point or the 

Other , you re bound to recall the peak and off peak periods of growing up-the good and the ugly.When you dilute them together you get the best narrative and make a beautiful story.Everyone often has a beautiful story to tell when they reflect on the memoirs of lost days and forgotten years.

My humble Beginning was quite scintinlating and I had a good upbringing from the most industrial couple in the beverage producing business in black Africa.We had extended families from both sides of parentage and were very successful in their own little way.The head of the partriarchal side my grandpa Joseph Olaniyan a great Scion of Laniyan dynasty ,members of the group of original hunters that founded ogbomoso. According to my father's younger brother pa Lanrewaju Laniyan ,who threw me back to the memory lane with the uncommon historical bombshell that left me panting for breath.In the narrative there was not a fable in the critical renditions and the cadence a repertoire of ipsofacto and expostfacto when juxtaposed shone above a thousand stars.Pa Lanrewaju with grey beard who was oratorical and somehow hospitable and scary presence invited me outside from the living room into the concrete couchs at the table tennis and badminton court to have a discussion.That was after returning home two decades in Lagos.In the narrative I saw a good raconteur like my father though in the traditional way.I watched him barred his mind and heaved a sigh of relief in the narrative as we sat in the tranquil hours of the sedate court plated with concrete.What was the need and use of the narrative as I asked myself and upon ponderous my need of golden resources to write my memoirs ,I quickly perceived the unquantifiable significance of historical documentation by a blogger and a reporter  found in such exigent mode and the power of listening mind.We had sat down for more than this peptalk which was quite initially indecisive between the movement from the living room and sedate chat at the court.Not only was it begining to grow hazy in the twinkling twinkling hours of the brief but memorable narrative and I knew that magic potion could spew out of his mouth when he lamented my father's latter years and how you would not arrive at your final destination when you mix religion with reality.My anxiety was all the greater  daunting to realize he was eagerly awaiting us after donkey years of hometown abandonment .If i didn't return back home after covid19 ordeal,our father's property would probably have been taken over and some disaster would have befallen us.Of course it is safe to say: Never had I undertaken a more difficult journey in my over forty years on earth.

A brief glance at his visage depicts hazy clouds gathering in the momentum, an evidence to convince curious mind that storm was brewing in the meantime.I noticed strong winds brewed up and wasn't sure where it would land.I was well aware of the squabble between brothers not very promising at a time.We were well aware of the trouble in the African extended family settings and the kind of heated family relations we experience.His spouse looked hazy too upon sighting my presence even before we sat down at the court.I was complaining of my frostbitten mood and disatisfaction with poor handling of our late father's properties and the way we lost millions over the years.I had tried my best and succeeded  to recover the assets from local agent with power of attorney to manage the properties.My audit unveiled the truth of lost revenues and upon noticing the treacherous diversion quickly retrieved them under my management.

ANOTHER ODYSSEY

On a cold clear morning in the year 1995, the rickety bus from ogbomoso,Oyo state, took off in earnest into the streets of ikotun , Lagos with exhausted folks, merry cheers and whistles of bravado blast from almost the entire family as it approached ijegun in the suburbs of Lagos.Hardly had it stopped and unload its passengers clothed against the beating waves,wild

Although we succeeded in moving to Lagos,we struggled to feed like any Lagosians.

As the new government takes over power this month,we return back to our common fate the so called subsidy politics.The blogger Ibikunle Laniyan,shares his archival memoirs of prior subsidy protest exactly a decade

Unfortunately eight months after their music had turned to tears and curse.Why?The heartless decision of the government through the Petroleum Product Pricing and Regulatory Agency to remove subsidy on January 1,was to blame. The same Eagles square that was formerly used to sing his praises was jam-packed by antisubsidy removal protesters.It was led by Dino Melaye former member of house of Representatives.According to punch journalist Olusola Fabiyi , despite fierce resistance from commander of the brigade of guards Brigadier Gen . Emmanuel Atewe who dispatched officers and soldiers from presidential villas to dissolve them including the men and soldiers from State security service were not perturbed to fight the government to a standstill.Melaye in the address to the protesters ,described the decision to remove subsidy was wicked.That "it is wicked ,it is satanic ,it is nefarious ,barbaric......."Nigeria labour Congress and Trade Union Congress collected almost a thousand signatures from the people to register their anger and disapproval.The commercial and government businesses were paralysed with heavy deployment of armed security personnel from major roads and lined up till sprawling Federal Secretariat.Still there nigerians were  undeterred.This also included popular Berger junction down to Wuse market and AP plaza junction renamed by protesters as Freedom square . They fought government to  revert back to 65 naira per litre.The protest also took Lagos by storm.

At the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park,Ojota, Lagos,in January 1,2012 there was once a rancorous gathering of disheartened faces and disgruntled elements in the nigerian society who risked their life to say no to removal of subsidy by federal government.The anti fuel subsidy removal protest that took place at the venue which was constructed in honour of late Icon of human rights Gani Fawehinmi,protesters took to the streets with their placards,both Muslim and Christians and raised eyebrows against the pathetic situation of their suffering masses.

It was a day worth its memoirs marked with huge dose of funfare, music and carnival when nigerians show solidarity to fellow nigerians.According to elaborate report of the day by punch journalists amiable ladies Adeola Balogun and Bosede Olusola Obasa,the delegation of the muslim community was led by chief missioner of the Ansar Ud-Deen society of Nigeria,Imam Abdulrahman Ahmad as well as the leader of the Muslim rights Concern and Lagos State Univetsity , Professor Ladi Akintola.

From the regalia of Saheed Osupa down to celibacy of female juju artist ,Ayo Balogun who led juju musicians'delegation to the rally,the whole carnival enjoyed the camaraderie of aluta continuum.Considering the Calibre of artistes in her entourage such as Sir Shina Peters ,Wale Thompson,Dele Taiwo and a host of others was indeed a memorable period.

The conveners did not waste time to register their violent anger against subsidy and in some of the groups an inscription ,'Subsidy: Jonathan Must Go' from a group that paraded well fed Rams at the rally.

They brandished cow horn, indicated herbalist's staff of office and chanted incantation.

Pastor Bakare had urged Nigerians not to give up until president Goodluck had reverted back to pre 2012 petrol price which was 65naira per liter.Infact the people resolved accordingly to occupy the streets until they could witness the desired change.

The Goodluck administration despite lameduck growth in agriculture ,25% pay cut for senior officers in government and cameo aviation reforms was of broken promises ,wasted reforms and insensitive policy.It was characterised by sporadic and heartless bombing as well as indiscriminate extinction and impoverished prejudice for wanton pillage of life and property.We agreed it was wrong not the ideal thing to do ,for a sitting government to squander one third of its resources and budget on subsidy at the detriment of infrastructural development.But as to the ways and means to achieve best method to remove subsidy without impoverishing the populace ,he was dumb.It was in line with this thought that president directed expeditious implementation of subsidy reinvestment and empowerment program (SURE) .Every year of this administration,at least 1.5tr.naira was squandered on the  subsidy alone and sometimes 2.5tr.naira.

As the new government takes over on May 29 ,2023 , new landmines of agitation herald the return of subsidy politics and we beg to witness the return of petrol price to pre 2012 period at least or fifty naira per liter.The president elect asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has promised to remove subsidy that could be successful if refineries are working including launching of the Dangote refinery.We envisage masses heaving a sigh of relief for the first time in the country since 1986 when SAP was introduced.

Every tribe in Nigeria had contributed immensely towards structural cluelessness and organisational dismemberment of the country and subconsciously install anarchy even when they knew it was not ideal thing.Out of the Nigerian tribes working greatly to disintergate the country,the worst of them are the ibopeople.Methink,this tribe appears to be the greatest challenge to national equity and fairness,a threat to the welfare of universal development.They rejoice in lies, satisfied with frauds and deceit and that was similar to German's concept of aryanism that led to the second world war.The IGBOs destroyed the nation more than any other tribe in the country and contributed next nothing to its development.It is unfortunate to say it but I make bold to say it no matter whose ox is gored.These lies are the major threat to the very existence of Nigeria. Let me start with the presidential election to say the  least as the latest anxiety,that was conducted free and fair.But because the disgruntled elements failed to win,they rubbished the whole episode .The greatest liars objected to it in this context the so called obidients and called for cancellation of the election results, without any convincing evidence.Datti Muhammad,vice presidential candidate of Labour on Channels TV,threatened president elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu that if he is sworn in on may 29,that would be the end of democracy.This is more than treasonable felony and MKO Abiola who was declared winner in the hope 93 election and died in prison, didn't do a third of obi's crime trying to truncate democracy.The paranoid obi went to presidential petition tribunal and petition the panel to cancel the election that was heavily rigged in Tinubu's favour.That the president elect was a peddler in drug trafficking worth of $460,000 which was against the Constitution and that his mandate should be revoked and certificate of return confiscated and handed over to him as the authentic winner.How dare you accuse an impending government of crime with no convincing evidence.The case of drug trafficking was dropped by the American authorities including FBI and the court,and must press specific damage because the extent of such damage to a personal reputation can be evaluated.This is more than a treasonable felony and I think the uploading of election electronically does not arise in the first place when it is not included in the Constitution or electoral acts.What then is their bone of contention?Can anybody help me?This is purely tribalism.Infact I make bold to say it;when in true sense of the world even 90%of Americans still voted on paper ballots.
