The Sisyphus Smile (Absurdism)
The boulder rolls back to the valley floor,
A thunderous "no" against the mountain side;
I turn my shoulder to the task once more,
With neither hope to lead nor god to guide.
The struggle is enough to fill the heart,
In this, the grand and silent cosmic joke;
I play my brief and fragmented part,
And wear the heavy chain as if a cloak.
The universe is deaf to every plea,
A vacuum where our reasons go to die;
But in that silence, I am truly free,
To live beneath a vast and empty sky.
The rock is mine; the hill is steep and wide—
I walk with joy and nothing left to hide.
