The Danger of Drowsy Driving

Drowsy driving is an underreported hazard that can be just as dangerous as driving under the influence. Sleep deprivation slows reaction times, decreases awareness, and can lead to "microsleeps," where a driver loses consciousness for a few seconds. These brief lapses are often long enough for a vehicle to drift out of its lane or off the road entirely. Recognizing the signs of fatigue—such as frequent yawning or drifting—is life-saving. The only cure for drowsiness is rest. Choosing to pull over and nap or switch drivers is a brave decision that protects everyone sharing the road.
