Infact local production grew to 40percent.Still,the harsh environment was not too encouraging,inspite of appreciable growth in local production output.The fifth phase era is typified by six ownership structures.Local producers control 58percent,Asian companies owned 18percent,Anglo American companies control 14 percent,while Government companies and others control 5percent respectively.These key indicators show growth in indigenous capacity when jobs were created and local products and innovation impact heavily on the healthcare needs of the economy.The full implementation of the Essential Drug List,that guarantees availability,accessibility and affordability including drugs'rational use is well supported and encouraging,and vital to meeting healthcare demand and national health policy.Still no company has set up,basic active production facilityor plant in the country,not even aspirin or paracetamol,despite recorded growth in the population of local players.Thistruly challenged their industrial credibility
