After he retired,he was living in Pankshin,and Abdullahi Mohammed was then military governor.Government threatened to take over Gomwalk's house in Pankshin and so send soldiers to invade the house but the governor was not happy with that treat.Then,he wrote to his friend and classmate Illiya Bissalla who was then chief of staff.He told Bisalla,that he had contacted the then governor who did nothing to relief him.He lamented that he was being harrased,ready to be thrown out of his house.It will linger on in his memory,for long time,that gory letter that they saw that was used against Gomwalk.Gomwalk and Bisalla were related,given that Gomwalk's elder brother Clement was married to Helen,an elder sister of Bisalla's wife.Infact,they Say Bisalla too was accused of planning another coup.Because,she was on holiday at Bisalla's House during holidays,she was arrested. Despite the allegation,they could not prove it.And when they picked Helen in that house,they saw letter Gomwalk wrote to Bisalla,in a random search.
