An Italian sonnet dedicated to the quiet majesty of the stars.
The velvet canopy of night unrolls,A quiet ocean far beyond the sea,Where ancient fires guide the wandering souls,And bind the scattered dust to destiny.Above the noise of man's restless controls,They burn in silent, perfect harmony,Writing their glowing script upon the poles,A map of time for all eternity. And as I stand beneath the astral gleam,The troubles of the waking world depart,Replaced by something larger than our dream,That heals the quiet corners of the heart. The universe breathes low in steady grace,And leaves me humbled in this boundless space.
