A street performer shone a flashlight against a brick wall, using his hands to cast the shape of a barking dog. When he turned the flashlight off, the shadow dog did not disappear. It hopped down from the wall, shook its dark ears, and began trotting happily along the pavement. It spent the evening chasing the shadows of blown leaves and begging for scraps from the shadows of outdoor restaurant tables, completely free of the hands that made it.The Lost and Found Elevator
