(Style: Petrarchan Sonnet)
I walk alone along the ocean’s rim,Where foaming waves erase the steps I take,And watch the horizon softly blur and dim,A glassy mirror for the clouds to break. The seagulls cry a distant, lonesome hymn,While quiet thoughts within my mind awake,The twilight shadows gather, long and grim,And yet I linger for the silence' sake. But then the wind begins to shift and change,And scatters all the heavy mist away,Revealing depths both beautiful and strange. The silver stars replace the fading gray,And in the calm that cooling nights arrange,The ocean breathes to end the busy day.
