Sonnet 1: The Portrait of Time
(Written in traditional iambic pentameter with an ABAB CDCD EFEF GG rhyme scheme)
Upon the canvas of a quiet mind,I paint the fleeting shadows of the past;A fragile world that leaves the dark behind,And binds the fleeting moments meant to last. The howling winds of winter strip the trees,And wash the fading footprints from the shore,But deep within this calm and gentle breeze,The moments that we cherished live once more.Though clocks may tick and steal the bloom of youth,And turn the brightest morning into grey,This art remains an everlasting truth,That keeps the creeping shadows far away.No earthly force can tear these bonds apart,While love preserves the gallery of the heart
